DECATUR — Rickey Lee "Rick" Blundy, 53, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 on the beach in Sarasota, Florida.
Services to celebrate Rick's life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Maroa-Forsyth Girls Booster Club.
Rick was born August 11, 1958 in Decatur, the son of Richard Blundy and Sandra Dubree. Rick worked a short time for United Parcel in Decatur. He then worked a Caterpillar of Decatur for thirty years before retiring July 1, 2012.
Rick coached a variety of sports all affiliated with Maroa-Forsyth including baseball, basketball, and softball. Rick was named coach of the year in 1997. He took great pride in his coaching and being actively involved in his daughters' athletics. He also enjoyed watching his grandson play t-ball and attended all his games.
Rick was passionate in his love of riding his Harley motorcycle he collected badges from each of the continental forty-eight states, many of these trips were with his step-father Joe Dubree. He enjoyed travelling and new adventures. He got great pleasure from riding with friends and the Coziahr Harley-Davidson riders.
He leaves behind his daughters Cassidy Blundy of St. Louis, Missouri, and Rihana Blundy of Decatur, grandson Logan Blundy of Decatur, mother Sandra Dubree of Decatur, father Richard Blundy and step-mother Carolyn of Decatur, brother Barry Blundy of Tennessee, and nephew Kolton Blundy of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his step-father Joe Dubree.
