H. Richard Allender, age 73, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 at Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon. He was born on Dec. 4, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Howard O. "Preach"and Marguerite "Marge" (Miller) Allender.
Richard is survived by his wife, Frances (Cornelius) Allender of 36 years, daughters, Rhonda Holley of Mount Vernon and Cara (Allan) Allender-Cunningham of Burlington, N.C., a son, PFC. Grant (Rita) Allender U.S. Army, Fort Hood, TX, a father-in-law, Robert Cornelius of Mount Vernon, four grandchildren, Aaron, Andy and Crystal Woosley and Sierra Spires, great-granddaughter, Kelsey Woosley and his aunt, Mary Catherine Rowan of Lutherville, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Velma Turney Cornelius.
