He was signed by the Dodgers 2 days after he graduated from high school and got his first major league hit when he was just 19 years old. His best season came in 1973 when he hit .295 with 14 home runs and 66 RBI's. He also hit .304 in 1976 as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals with 9 home runs and 50 RBI's. His final major league season in 1977 was split between the Houston Astros and Oakland A's. Over his career he hit .268 with 86 home runs and 419 RBIs.
