ROBERT E. "BOB" NORDYKE, 85, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Bluffton, he worked as a Plant Manager with Crossroads Children's Home, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion; a Boy Scout leader; Trustee at Asbury United Methodist Church, in Albion; and a volunteer at Turnstone Center. He was a survivor of the 'Battle of the Bulge'. He enjoyed woodworking, birdwatching and gardening, and was a magnet to all children. Surviving are his spouse of 65 years, Beverly Nordyke of Fort Wayne; daughters, Dana (Alan) Geller and Diane (Steven) Hoopengardner, both of Fort Wayne; son, Randy (Laura) Nordyke of Albion; daughter, Peggy (Scot) Green of Fort Wayne; son, Robin (Rebecca) Nordyke of Winchester; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward (Norma) Nordyke of Crystal River, Fla. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Nordyke; parents, William and Margaret Nordyke; and sisters, Pauline Murray, Dorothy Melton and Phyllis Emenhiser. Service is 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at funeral home. Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, Turnstone Center for Disabled Children & Adults, or The Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana.
