James lived most of his life around the Benton, Christian County in Missouri. He was a farmer. In the 1920 Census he is found in Crawford County, Kansas. He lived in that area until his death in 1933. He was brought back to Missouri to be buried in Union Chapel Cemetery where much of his family were also laid to rest.
