After his military career, he worked as a self-employed electrician & plumber.

Mrs. Lillie Gaynell "Nell" Herring Barrington, 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Dundee Manor in Bennettsville.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Burroughs-Cooper-Kiser Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Wade Everett. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Gibson, NC. A Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Burroughs-Cooper-Kiser Funeral Home.

Born April 17, 1922 in Dillon County, She was the daughter of the late Henry and Lillie Smith Herring. Mrs. Barrington worked at Morgan Mills for many years, and was a devoted Homemaker. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Bennettsville, and enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Mrs. Barrington is survived by her husband, Emory W. "Barry" Barrington of the home; Robert Stanton and wife Wanda of Bennettsville; daughter, Janis Clarkson and husband Rhett of Richmond, VA; sister, Betty Jean Burroughs and husband Max of Laurinburg, NC; five grandsons; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
