Blizzard Claims Brothers Lives
Service will be held Thursday, January 16, at 2:00 p.m. for two brothers, Ernest and Roy Berg, in the Cease Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley. Rev. Trueman Daniels will officiate.
The pair, not adequately dressed for blizzard conditions, froze to death near Leonard this past weekend when their car became stalled.
Ernest Garhard Berg, 57, was born in March 11, 1917 and Roy Freddie Berg, 70, was born on November 20, 1904 in Queen Township, Polk County, to parents, Eddie and Gusta Berg.
Roy Berg was married to Clara Grue in Bagley on January 2, 1924. She predeceased him on September 25, 1973. Four sons were born to this marriage: Orvin of Minneapolis, Norris of Hastings, Roger of Kansas City, Kansas, and Wesley of Leonard.
Ernest lived in the Clearwater County all his life. He was never married.
Surviving the two brothers are six sisters: Mrs. Roy (Myrtle) Jacobson of Bagley; Mrs. Clara Soland of Minneapolis; Mrs. Murl (Amy) Nelson of Thief River Falls; Mrs. Peter Zerbey of Minneapolis; Mrs. Geo. (Alvina) Johnson of Clearbrook; and Mrs. Sylvia Kennison of California.
Survivors of Roy Berg include 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Interment for Roy Berg will be in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gonvick, and for Ernest Berg at the Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery, Greenwood Township, Clearbrook, under the direction of the Cease Funeral Home.
