George was the fifth child of Edmund Jackson and his wife, Frances Phillips. He married Virginia McGann on September 15, 1936. They had three children; two sons and a daughter. After Virginia's death, he married Mae Sidio. George served in World War II; the 5th Armored Division of the US Army.
