Pauline Elizabeth Rettinger was the daughter of Charles Enders Rettinger and Emma Kate Keiter Rettinger. She is listed with her parents and two siblings on the 1910 and 1920 Census records living on Armstrong Street in Halifax, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, United States. Their father worked in the shoe factory, but all three children (Miriam, Pauline, and younger brother Marlin) became school teachers. At the time of the 1940 Census, Pauline was working as a public school teacher in Quakertown, Bucks, Pennsylvania, United States. She lived in the same household as fellow teacher Ida V. Blackburn. In later years she returned to Halifax and lived with her sister Miriam.

HALIFAX Pauline Elizabeth Rettinger, 90, of Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, formerly of Halifax, died Tuesday in the village.
She retired as a teacher from the Quakertown School District and was a member of Halifax United Methodist Church.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Reinhard Funeral Home, Millersburg. Burial will be in Fetterhoff Cemetery, Halifax RD 1.
Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Halifax 17031.
