"Thomas G Higley, 92, Meadville, RD 8, died early Wednesday morning, March 17, 1982, at the Union City Memorial Hospital. He was born April 22, 1889, in Townville, the son of Alva and Mary Raispon (sic) [Ralston] Higley. He attended schools in the Townville area. Mr Higley married Mabel Sherlock in 1916. She preceded him in death [in] 1972. For 15 years, he was an employee of Union City Chair [Co]. Later, he was employed by Raymond Manufacturing Co for 25 years until his retirement in 1955. After his retirement, he moved to a farm at Centerville. Following the death of his wife, Mr Higley moved to Townville. Mr Higley was a member of the UAW Local 629 of Corry. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs Philip (Jessie) Cory of Plain Grove; one son, Leo R Higley of Meadville, with whom Mr Higley resided; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one step-son, four sisters and one brother. Friends may call at the Spartansburg branch of the Bracken Funeral Home...and attend the funeral service there Friday at 2 pm with Rev Louis J Quetel of the Rometown Community Church officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg."
