Alice Cora Melzer Hosfelt was born April 26, 1884 in Cook County, Illinois, the daughter of William and Mary Melzer, and passed away August 12, 1976, at the Griswold Care Center where she had resided for the past two years.

The family moved to Victoria Township, Cass County, Iowa, that same year. She became a member of the Victoria Methodist Church, the land for the church having been donated by her father.

She was married February 1, 1905 to William Henry Hosfelt in Massena. They lived on their farm east of Massena until they retired to Massena in 1945. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary February 1, 1956.

Mrs. Hosfelt was a member of the Massena Methodist Church and participated in all the church activities. She was a 50 ear member of Massena Chapter #429, Order of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed many community activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955; also by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one sister, Alaina Reichardt of Milford, Michigan; her immediate family, Mr. and Mrs. George Hosfelt and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hosfelt of Massena, and Mrs. Lois Green of Concord, California; her grandchildren, Dean, Gene, and Harold Hosfelt and Mrs. Joyce Westlake and their wives and husbands, several great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Massena, August 15 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Lyle Ball officiating. Interment was in the Massena Center cemetery.
