Dorothy Geneva McBryde Cottingham, 90, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham.
Mrs. Cottingham was born April 3, 1921, in Lee County, a daughter of the late Forrest Glenn and Annie Stone McBryde. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rockingham, a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and had retired from Richmond Savings and Loan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Cottingham, brother Buddy McBryde and sister, Joe Ann Morgan.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia C. Ryan and husband, Thomas of Elizabeth City; grandchildren, Joey Ryan and Dorothy Ann Bland; great-grandchildren, Dallas Bland and Jayd Bland; and brothers, Forrest McBryde Jr. of Ellerbe and Roy McBryde of Marshville.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Rockingham with Rev. Dwight Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery.
The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
