Earl's grandparents (Robert and Sarah Bourns), several uncles and numerous cousins are buried nearby in the Cartwright Cemetery. His wife and their infant son are buried in the same plot. Earl was the veterinarian for the Cartwright area and died during the latter stages of the influenza epidemic.

Died at age 31. Burial information obtained from Cartwright Cemetery Records transcribed in the local history book "Memories Along the Badger Continued" published in 2010.
