Friday, July 29, 1910

MRS. EVERETT NICHOLSON

Iva Mabel Kennedy was born near Madison, Greenwood county, Kansas, Nov. 2nd, 1889, and passed peacefully away at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary A. Kennedy, July 24th, 1910, aged 20 years, 8 months and 22 days, death resulting from complications of scarlet fever.

She was united in marriage to Everett Nicholson Sept. 17th, 1908, and at 3 o'clock Sunday she fell "asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep, from which none ever wake to weep." She leaves a vacant place in her home and community which none other can fill. She leaves, besides a loving husband and darling little babe, Francis, her mother, four brothers and three sisters, besides other relatives and friends who deeply mourn the loss of this loved one. But our loss is eternal gain. Her father preceded her to the better land May 21, 1908. All were present at the funeral except one sister, Mrs. Rosezella Martin, who lives in Elin, Washington.

She confessed her faith in her Savior six years ago at the M. E. church at Larned. A few days before her death she sang her favorite song, "In the Garden Above." Short services were conducted at the grave by the Methodist minister, after which all that was mortal of Iva was laid to rest in the Larned cemetery.
