John M. Arnold Sr., of Littlestown, departed this life August 24.

He was the son of the late William and Winnie Northey Arnold.

Mr. Arnold attended Christ United Church of Christ, Littlestown. He was a life member of the Littlestown VFW, the Hanover American Legion Post 14, and the Hanover Amvets Post 22. Mr. Arnold served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as an automobile mechanic from Wintrode Buick Chevrolet, Littlestown, in 2000, after 27 years employed. Mr. Arnold was a 1948 graduate of Biglerville High School.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth R. Rebert Arnold, who died in 1994 and is survived by three sons, John Arnold II and James C. Arnold, both of Hanover, and Steven D. Arnold of Windsor; three daughters, Lesia M. Utz of Spring Grove, Sharon L. Deatrick of Dover, DE, and Teresa L. Sanders of Aspers; 11 grandchildren; one stepgrandson; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Leonard P. Arnold of North Carolina, and one sister, Winnie Arnold of Gettysburg.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Wheeler and Joyce Schultz, and five brothers, James Travis, Clyde Arnold, Billy Lee Arnold, Wayne Arnold and Carroll Arnold.

Interment, with military honors provided by the Littlestown Allied Veterans Council, was in the Christ Church Cemetery, Littlestown.
