Mrs. Allen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and friend. While living in Springfield, Illinois, she was a self-employed beautician. After retirement, Jean and her husband moved to California. She volunteered at the Orangevale Library and the Roseville Blood Bank, where she worked for many years. Jean also provided in-home child care and was affectionately called "Grandma Jean" by the children. Over the last eight years, she enjoyed the special companionship of her beloved miniature schnauzer, Reilly.
She is survived by two sons: Keith L. Allen (wife, Jo) of Springfield, IL and Terry V. Allen; one daughter: Kathy J. Smith (husband, Dr. Gregory R. Smith) of Lincoln, CA; two grandchildren: Tara Sue Allen and Lenny Allen (wife, Donna), two great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, all of Springfield, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sutter Hospice Roseville, 8334 Ferguson Ave., Sacramento, CA 95828 or any charity of your choice.
Mrs. Allen's final resting place will be next to her late husband at Sylvan Cemetery in Citrus Heights, CA.
