She was born on March 18, 1932, in Spencer, W.Va., a daughter of Rube and Audra Cain Miller. She had worked at The Evergreen Steak House, Marie Anntionette Nursing Home, Dawson Bowling Alley, Davis's Diner, Thomas's Carry Out and The Busy Bee. She was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church.
Mert was married for 50 years to Robert Davis who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Patty (Gary) Rhoades of Marietta; two grandchildren, Chris (Whitney) Rhoades and Amanda (Matt) Westfall; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Nathan Westfall; a brother, Pete (Shirley) Miller; a sister, Georgie Evonne Donehew; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Miller and Frankie Taylor.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Davis; brothers, Jess Taylor, Wilford Miller, Oscar Miller and Jim Miller; a sister, Marilyn Alene Miller; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Miller and Lou Miller.
Funeral services will be held on at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 7) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, with Pastor Keith Kapple officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. on Monday, with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
