Betty Ryan, 86, of Pine Knot, Ky., passed away Friday, August 31, 1984, in a Somerset, Ky. hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Ryan; parents: Calvin and Nancy Duncan Baker; and one son, Robert Ryan. Mrs. Ryan, who was born in Winfield, resided most of her life in Pine Knot, where she was a retired assistant postmaster and a member of the Pine Knot United Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, John Carroll Ryan of Miami, Fla.; five grandchildren: Betty Muse of Somerset, Ky., Cynthia Duggan, and Debra and David Ryan, all of Miami, Fla., and Mike Ryan of Pine Knot, Ky.; and one sister, Wilda Sexton of Oneida. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, September 2, at 4 p.m. at the Hickman Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kennedy Elam and Rev. James E. Marcum officiating.
