Gaffney, S.C. - Pearl Dickson Hancock, 91, formerly of 903 Florence Street, and a resident of Peachtree Centre, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in 1 August 1920 in Cherokee County, she was the widow of the late John Roland Hancock and daughter of the late John Sherman and Carrie Turner Dickson.

Mrs. Hancock retired from Musgrove Mills with over 50 years of service, was a homemaker and loved music and singing. She was the oldest member of Park Hills Baptist Church where she was a very active member of the choir.

Surviving are a son, Jerry Hancock of Gaffney; a daughter, Brenda Hancock Cooper and husband, Jackie of Blacksburg; five grandchildren, Jimmy Cooper, Greg Hancock, Kelly C. Land and husband, Jeff, Wanda Hancock and Todd Hancock and wife, Tammy; a great-grandchild, Claire Hancock; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Hilliard Dickson, McClain Dickson, Boyce Dickson, James Dickson and John Dickson and five sisters, Annie D. Floyd, Edna D. Cudd, Ruth D. Poole, Lois Dickson and Ruby Dickson; a niece, Phyllis Floyd and a nephew, Michael Dickson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Sanders and Rev. Roger Ham officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to: Park Hills Baptist Church (General Fund), 1100 Leadmine Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

The family will be at the home of Brenda and Jackie Cooper, 197 Cooper Trail, Blacksburg.
