Spc. Cameron J. Stambaugh, 20, of Spring Grove, Pa., died July 8, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit in Maidan Shahr, Wardak province, Afghanistan, with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 978th Military Police Company, 93rd Military Police Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas. Spc. Cameron J. Stambaugh, age 20, was killed in action while serving his country in Afghanistan on July 8, 2012. Cameron was born in York on May 28, 1992. He graduated from Spring Grove Area High School class of 2010. He proudly served his country in the US Army, 978th Military Police Company of Fort Bliss and was stationed in Afghanistan. He was awarded the rank of Specialist posthumusly. He is survived by his loving mother Pamela Smith and her husband Arnold Jr. of Hanover, his loving father Mitchell L. Stambaugh and his wife Jackie of Spring Grove; his brothers Chad Stambaugh and his wife Shayna of Richmond VA, Andrew Stambaugh of Hanover and Jeffery Stambaugh of Fort Hood TX; his nephew Logan Stambaugh; his maternal grandparents Darlene and Jim Leib and his paternal grandfather Quentin Stambaugh; his maternal step-grand parents Arnold and Judy Smith Sr. He is also survived by his step-brothers Jacob Smith, Derek Smith, David Williams and Joey Williams; his step-sisters Jen Swanner and Heidi Wildasin and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Bertha Stambaugh and his cousin Gina Stambaugh.
