CHELMSFORD - Hugh F. Keaney, 81 Dalton Road, Chelmsford, died Friday at Lowell General Hospital. He was married to Mrs. Barbara L. (Barrett) Keaney with whom he would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on June 2.
Born in Arlington on August 15 1929, son of the late John B. and Mary L. (Donnelly) Keaney. He was a graduate of Boston College High School in 1950, and received his B.A. degree from Boston College. Mr. Keaney was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member of the Billerica Knights of Columbus and was a communicant of St Mary's church in Chelmsford. Over the years he had been employed by the Raytheon Corp in South Lowell and for many years before his retirement in 1984 had worked for the state Department of Welfare in Billerica and Lowell.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Leverone of Wilmington; four sons, Thomas Keaney, Michael Keaney, and Daniel Keaney, all of Chelmsford and Hugh Keaney of Lowell; an aunt, Sister Patricia Keaney O.S.U. of Dedham. He also leaves three sisters, Miss Ellen K. Keaney, and Miss Mary Keaney, both of Billerica, and sister Carol Marie Keaney, O.S.U of Indonesia; four brothers, Philip C. Keaney of Florida, Rev. James P. Keaney of North Carolina, Rev. John B. Keaney M.M. of Taiwan and Francis X. Keaney of Lynn; also four grandchildren; and his mother in law Mrs. Yvonne (Patenaude) Barrett of Chelmsford.
