ICKESBURG - I Geraldine "Gerry" Barns, 80, formerly of Perry County passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012 in Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle.
Geraldine was born April 13, 1932 at Millerstown, Pa to the late Ralph and Nettie (Hockenbrock) Kerstetter. She was preceded in death by her husband George "Warren" Barns.
She was a homemaker and had also worked as a home health aid. She was a member of the Faith United Church of Ickesburg and a former member of Zion United Church of Christ in Blain, where she was a Sunday School teacher. Gerry was also a Girl Scout leader in Blain and a member of the Blain Ladies Auxiliary.
Gerry was one of 16 children. She was preceded in death by sisters: Anna Jane and Mildred and brothers: Clarence, Lee, C. Paul, George, Richard, Ernest, Alvin, Herman and Donald.
Surviving are her children, Barry Barns of Loysville, Sharon Magaro of Halifax, Karon Beaston of Shermans Dale and Susan Stum of Landisburg; two sisters: Thelma Johnson of Duncannon and Dorothy Leiter of Loganton, Pa; two brothers: Robert Kerstetter of Hebron, Oh and James Kerstetter of Millersburg; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 10 , 2012 at 11:30 A. M. from Zion United Church of Christ, 24 West Main Street, Blain, Pa. 17006 with Rev. Paul Gehris officiating. Viewing will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Nickel Funeral Home, P. O. BOX 910, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, Pa. 17047 and Tuesday from 10:30 -11:30 A. M. at the church in Blain. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery, Ickesburg.
