"Jabez Gallup of Croton Conn. came to Cleveland when he was about 36 years of age. It was in the early '30s. He was the son of Isaac and Anna Smith Gallup, and his wife was Lucy Meech, daughter of Gurdon and Lucy Swan Meech. Mr. and Mrs. Gallup were married in 1816, and their home, for a short time, was on Water St.
The children of Jabez and Lucy Meech Gallup were;

Lucy A. Gallup married Morris Pomeroy
Henrietta Gallup married Dan G. Thompson
Mary, Elihu and Henry Gallup died in infancy
In 1843, Mr. Gallup married secondly Louisa Avery. They had two children, Avery and George Gallup."
Jabez Gallup owned a 176 sq ft plot in Erie Street Cemetery (Section 1, Lot 85) which was exchanged for lot 199 section 1 in Highland Park Cemetery on Aug. 12, 1916. Burials removed to Highland Park were:
