Elizabeth C. "Betty" Focht, 88, rural Williamsburg, went home to be with her Lord, Friday afternoon at Altoona Regional, after a brief illness.
She was born in rural Hollidaysburg, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Weller) Walls. She married Glenn D. "Chet" Focht on Oct. 18, 1941, in Front Royal, Va. He preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 2002.
Betty is survived by three sons: David (wife, Nancy) of Claysburg, James (wife, Carol) of rural Williamsburg, Ted (wife, Myrna) of Santan Valley, Ariz.; a daughter, Kathy A. Metzler (husband, Tim) of rural Williamsburg; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Neuhard, of Juniata, Altoona.
She was a member of Yellow Springs Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Betty served as a church council member, church treasurer and was an active member of the willing workers.
Betty retired in 1982 after 10 years of service from the Presbyterian Home, Hollidaysburg, where she was head of the dietary department
She attended the Altoona Area schools and received a certification in dietary science at York Hospital.
Betty enjoyed flowers, crocheting, working with the church and especially enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren, with whom she dearly loved.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2012, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc. Williamsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Yellow Springs Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg, with Pastor Betty J. Royer officiating. Interment will follow at Henry's Lutheran Cemetery at Yellow Springs, rural Williamsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Yellow Springs Lutheran Church General Fund.
