Daughter of Daniel and MIldred Bates. age 23

First wife of Josiah Stedman, whom she married in 1804 in Boston, MA and they had one daughter: Hannah M. Stedman, b.1805, Boston, MA, d.1815, Boston, MA. In 1806 in Boston, MA widower Josiah 2nd married Miriam White (Baxter) (FAG#107826000) with whom he had children. (Contributed by family member, sleuth2).

From the records of Waldo Sprague, recorded in 1953 when the stone was obviously in much better condition. (corrections or additions by me)

"Children of D.(M) Bates. Daniel Jr. a graduate of Harvard (University) died in Boston Aug 18 1799 a. 20 + interred in Central Cemetery. Mrs Nancy Pierce died in Boston June 16, 1811 a 30. Mrs Mildred Curtis died in Lynn June 1839 a. 61. Mrs Deborah Stedman died in Boston Nov. 5, 1805 age 23 Granary Cemetery. Polly Pierce died in Boston Apr. 27 1864 a. 81 there interred.
Children of E. Bates died in Boston there interred
Catherine Aug 6 1802 a. 5, Catherine March 25 1837 a 34, Daniel 2nd Apr. 27 1839 a 30 Ann ? Dec 4 1845 a 50, Mrs Maria Newhall died in Cambridge March 9 1851 a 50, Mrs. Deborah S. Mansfield died + interred in Gloucester Oct. 18 1829 a. 23. Three infants each 18 days.
Betsey Tufts died in Weymouth Oct. 14 1854 a 66, Stephen Bates died in Quincy June 6 1861 a 71 + here entombed. William Bates, born in Boston Feb. 25, 1798 (93) died in Charlestown Oct. 27 1864 a 71. Esther T. McGaw died in Boston Dec 3 1876 a. 65 interred in Mt. Auburn."
