Given his service in the Confederate Army, I believe that 1840 or 1841 is more likely than the 1848 on his tombstone. He married Nancy Jackson September 7, 1865 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. On the marriage record he is listed as "Jessie Ezell". They had 2 daughters: Frances "Fannie" Magdalene Izell Adams Hardeman, and Margaret A. Izell. Sometime between January 1870 and October 1874, Jesse married R.S. Jones. The 1910 Census says that they were married 37 years. They had 11 children with 5 living in 1900: George Nelson, Ada V. Izell Stone, LeRoy, Eudora E., and Thomas Alexander. One of the 6 children who died was LeVoid, twin to LeRoy.
