Inscription: 79 Y, 11 M, 5 D
This cemetery is located near the center of the northwest quarter of section 33, township 13,
range seventeen, which is just on the outskirts of what used to be Richland, Kansas. It is in Monmouth Township, Shawnee County, Kansas, on the upland at a point where the land slopes gently away to both the north and south. The
cemetery is protected by a group of trees on private property.
At the time the stones were copied in the 1980s, the land was owned by Dr. Buchele, who used a vehicle to get up to the graveyard.
In the 1860s, the property was owned by Dr. William Boles and his wife, Lydia. His daughters were Martha Caroline Boles Mathers and Lydia Emelina Boles Green.
William Phillips Mathers was the father of Mahlon Mathers, husband of Martha.
