Mary E. (McCaffrey) Cormier, 89 years old, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon surrounded by her loving family. Born in Taunton on Dec. 9, 1919, daughter of the late James and Annie (Gotham) McCaffrey. She was the wife of the late Alyre J. Cormier. Educated in Taunton schools, she was a 1937 graduate of Taunton High School. She retired as a Claims Adjudicator, after over 35 years, with the Division of Employment Security. Mary was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church. She was Past First Lady of the Wally Byam Caravan International/ Airstream Owners, and the secretary for the Rocky Knoll Association. Mary was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She is survived by two sisters, Helen Mros and Ann Ramsay, both of Taunton and a brother Edward McCaffrey and his wife Ann of Arizona. She is the sister in law of Hope McCaffrey of Middleboro, Thelma McCaffrey of East Taunton, Dot Cormier and Geraldine Cormier both of Taunton and she was the sister of the late James, William, Francis and Robert McCaffrey. Mary is the aunt and great aunt of several. Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, (Route 138 South) Taunton on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, (Tremont Street facility) at 10 a.m. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in St. Francis Cemetery.
