Evelyn Machado (90 years old) born February 7, 1921 in Oakland, California of John and Anna Philips of Hayward, California. She moved to Escalon in the mid 1950's where she lived until her death on Dec. 24th, 2011. In her younger years she worked for the Escalon Packers Cannery and Bender's Bakery. She was best known for her love of baking, gardening and sewing projects. She loved life and was a friend to all.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Machado , brother Walter Philips and sister Marie Stewart and is survived by her four daughters and their husbands: Betty and Don Bennett of Escalon, Ca. Rosemary and John West of Newark, Ca. Ana and Patrick Donahue of San Jose, Ca. and Gloria and Rick Coady of Modesto as well as 7 grand children, 16 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren and a sister Eleanor Santos of Hayward, Ca and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 29 from 2-5 pm at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon. Her service will be on Friday, December 30 at 9 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with burial following at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Escalon.
