Josephine Elizabeth Blankenship (Braziel) joined her husband Tom with our Lord and Savior July 1, 2012.

A lifelong resident of Otero County, Josephine was born August 16, 1927. As a child she lived and attended school in Karr Canyon, later moving to La Luz where her father Levi Braziel was post master. On February 26, 1949 she had a first date with Tom Blankenship. The two became engaged on November 23 of that same year and married April 1, 1950. It was the beginning of a life together that lasted 59 years, and a love that endured until her last breath.

Josephine and Tom went into business together in 1953. A Jack of all trades she raised a child, managed the office and on occasion even drove a truck. Known as "Grammy" to her grandchildren her passions were music, dancing, and her faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Racheal; siblings, Carl Braziel, Ola Quick; her first child, Jimmy Levi and her loving husband, Tom H. Blankenship.

Josephine is survived by her son, Tommy Joe and wife Ann of La Luz; grandchildren, Tom A Blankenship of Denver Colorado, Denise Patterson of Ruidoso New Mexico, Zane R. Blankenship and wife Sarah of La Luz, Clint M. Blankenship and wife Katelyn of La Luz; great-grandchildren, Rickie and Billy Williams of Ruidoso, Bailey Blankenship of La Luz; great-granddaughter, Linzie Williams of Ruidoso; and her very special niece, Robin Blankenship, who the family doesn't know how they would have made it through the last year without.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Chapel with Bill Dees officiating.

Pallbearers include Rodney Blankenship, Joel Dees, Jimmy Glendening, Harris Blankenship, Jason Blankenship and Bob Nichols. Interment will follow at La Luz Community Cemetery.

The Blankenship family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
