Miss Phoebe M. Fonda, a resident of this city for the last seventy years, died this morning at her residence, 5 Manchester Avenue, after a brief Illness. Miss Fonda was born in Pittstown, but came to this city to live when a girl. She was eighty-eight years old, but despite her age she maintained an active interest in life until death. She had many friends. Miss Fonda was the last of her family, her brother, Samuel D. Fonda, having died in 1921. The funeral will take place from the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. Dr. Paul R. Hickok of the Second Presbyterian Church, of which she was an attendant, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Troy Times, Saturday, March 22, 1924.
