When she was 18 years old she moved with her parents to Okarche, Okla. Here she met and was united in marriage with William H. Fechtler on December 14, 1904. In the year of 1906 the young couple came to the Oklahoma Panhandle, Homesteading on a farm 11 miles northeast of Guymon.
God blessed their marriage by the gift of two children, namely, son, Paul, and daughter, Lydia, now Mrs. Erich Wessler.
Mrs. Fechtler was a charter member of the Lutheran Church at Optima. When the Optima congregation disbanded, she became affiliated with Trinity Lutheran church, north of Guymon. She loved her church and was always active in it's behalf.
For more than a dozen years, she was in frail health and had submitted to several operations. Last week, she became ill, but it was thought at first that her illness was not serious. However, pneumonia developed, and on Tuesday afternoon at 2:20 o'clock the Lord called her home.
