Kingsport - Larry Adams, 63 of Kingsport, passed away Friday August 7, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was a life long resident of Kingsport and grew up in the Morrison City/Lynn Garden area Larry was retired from AFG Industries where he worked as an electrician. He served with the Merchant Marines for 8 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Louise Collins Adams and a sister, Barbara Burton.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 24 years, Diane Case Adams, of the home; sisters, Georgia Vaughn of Phoenix, AZ, Joyce Brasfield and husband James of Memphis, Louella Blair and husband Raymond L. "Van" of Mt Carmel, Pam Bacon and husband Harvey of Fall Branch, Tn,; brothers, James Adams and wife Mary of Virginia Beach, VA, Gary W. Adams of Kingsport, David Adams and wife Peggy of Fall Branch; aunts JoAnn Handlir of Belcamp, MD, Stella Collins of Norton, VA; very special brother-in-law, Garland Burton; very special nephew, Tracy Burton; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved pet poodle, Sassy Girl.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday August 9, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.

A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jack Edwards officiating. The service may be simultaneously viewed by visiting www.cartertrent.com.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday August 10, 2009 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jim Leach, Jim Lane, Scott Gose, Ralph Barrett, Dave Thacker and Scott Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be The Peacemakers and Tri-Cities Motorcycle Club.
