Bert Cecil Joe Prater was born 26 Mar 1890 in Colfax, WA to Robert Franklin Prater and Elizabeth Ann Starnes. He was the 7th child of 12. He attended school in Deer Park and after graduation, moved to Spokane and took a job as a lineman. He joined the US Army when WWI broke out and served in the 346th Field Artillery Supply Company. After the war, he married Louise Hamm from Joplin, MO on 7 Apr 1920 in Newport, WA. He later became a chauffeur as did a couple of his brothers. He passed away on 1 Mar 1962 in Spokane, WA and is buried in Riverside Park as is many of his siblings.
