Barry Abbott, McCondy, Dies
Funeral services for Barry Duvell Abbott, 70, retired steel worker with the Tennessee Coal & Iron Co., Birmingham, Ala., who died at his home at McCondy at 11:30 am, Thursday, Jan. 31, were conducted from the Houston Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm, Saturday with interment in the McCondy Cemetery.
The Rev. Joe Dabbs of McCondy officiated.
Mr. Abbott, a member of the Wylam Methodist Church at Birmingham, was born March 24, 1892, the son of the late Leroy L Abbott and Alice Bishop Abbott.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nettie Abbott of McCondy; two sons, Elbert Abbott of Pasadena, Tex., and Byron Abbott of McCondy; three sisters, Mrs. Letha Cole of Mantee, Mrs. Clara Hill of Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. E D Davis of Hopewell, Va. Four grandchildren also survive.
