Our 2nd Dog

Shaggy, who looked like Benji, was a light brown Cairn Terrier. She's a stray dog and we took her in to give Sam some company. We were told Shaggy was about 5 yrs old when she came to us the summer of 1989. Shaggy's heart was broken when Sam died the summer of 1996. She lost all control of her bowels and had to be put down.

Shaggy was an abused dog. She had to have 2 major surgeries to fix her insides. We gave Shaggy 8 more years and she was given total and complete love! It took 5 years before she could trust another human being. We could not show a broom or rattle a paper when she was in the room.

Shaggy was much older than we thought and may have been closer to 15 years plus when she died. Shaggy had a good life with our family and she brought us much joy!!

I'm putting her birth year as 1982. But that is only a wild guess. The vet puts her about 15 yrs plus when she died. Her age must have been 7 to 8 years old when we found her, not 4 to 5 years as first believed. Shaggy was grossly underweight and losing her hair when she was rescued by us. She was a God-sent present to our household and never regretted taking Shaggy in and loving her. Shaggy died Tuesday, August 5, 1997. She was cremated as a group cremation at the Evercare Veterinary Crematory in Warminster Pennsylvania and did not keep her ashes.
