Martha "Susie" Drum HICKORY Martha "Susie" Travis Drum, 82, of Hickory passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at her residence. Born Aug. 24, 1929 in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Carrie Whitener Travis. Susie was a member of Faith Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, where she also taught Sunday school. She loved to sing in the choir and loved children. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd H. Drum, and three brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her children, Wayne and GiGi Drum, of Tampa, Fla., Rick and Carmelita Drum, of Jacksonville, Fla., Chris and Elizabeth Drum, of Hildebran and Gloria Drum Heafner and husband, Benny Heafner, of Cherryville, N.C.; grandchildren, Benji Heafner, Willie Heafner, Steven Drum, Adam Drum, Balen and Kenneth Dotson, Janelle and Efrain Rosario, Kimberly and Travis Morris and Neil and Lori Drum; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Drum, Madison Dotson, Autumn Dotson, Chey-enne Heafner, Savannah Heafner, Aliana De Mendoza, Jaidyn Drum, Connor Morris and Caleb Morris; sisters, Doris Sigmon and Blanche Winstead. Funerals services will be held Saturday, June 30, at 1 p.m. at Catawba Funerals & Cremations, with Pastor Harry Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, June 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Faith Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, 204 19 Avenue SW, Hickory, NC 28602.
