MARY E. (GUSS) BAIRD , well known Barry woman, died at her home in the eastern part of the city at 4:45 o'clock Monday evening after an illness covering a period of many months. Mrs. Baird had been practically an invalid for years and her daughter, Miss Fannie, who has always had to resort to the aid of crutches to walk, recently suffered from embolism and one of her arms were amputated. She was then compelled to give up the care of her mother, to whom she was greatly devoted. Mary E. Baird was formerly Mary E. Guss and her husband, Charles Baird, died about twelve years ago. Mrs. Baird was past 77 years of age and she was born and raised in the vicinity of Barry. She is survived by her only daughter, Miss Fannie and several distant relatives. Funeral services will be conducted from the M. E. church Thursday afternoon...in charge of Rev. T. Elmer Jones, of Barry Baptist church, who will be assisted by Rev. C. W. Hamand, pastor of the M. E. church and Rev. Chester A. Jacobs of the Christian church. Interment will be made in Park Lawn cemetery.
