Brilliant graduate student in physics and honors graduate of Huntington High School in Shreveport, La., where he was a varsity athlete, played in the band and was president of his graduating class of 1976. Honors graduate of Grambling State University, where he was an outstanding physics student. He conducted research at and for Bell Laboratories and gained a fellowship at MIT. It was while in Massachusetts that he died in a boating accident. He was married to the former Cheryl Coleman and they had a daughter, Carmen Marcier Horton.
