Aviation Pioneer. He was an early motorcyclist, pioneer aircraft designer, manufacturer and racer who demonstrated the first official public one-kilometer flight in 1908. That flight would later earn him pilot's license Number One. He invented the first pontoon and flying boat aircraft, making him the father of naval aviation.
