Frederick D. Brainerd, a resident of West Ossipee, New Hampshire, formerly of Andover and beloved husband of the late Flora D. (Coppeta) Brainerd, died at the Hellenic Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Canton on Monday evening, December 5, 2011. He was 86 years old.

Born in Methuen, Massachusetts, on March 14, 1925, he was the beloved son of the late Frank and Bernice (DeRoehn) Brainerd. Mr. Brainerd was a Chemist and was the President of Shawsheen Chemical for many years. Fred was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying skiing until he was 81. He also loved animals and going hiking. Mr. Brainerd also loved camping and owned and operated his own private plane with his brother, Eric. Fred served in the US Air Force during WWII. Above all Fred was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, always spending time with his beloved family.

He will be missed by his loving son and daughter-in-law; Frederick J. and his wife Linda R. Brainerd of Frederick, Maryland, daughter and son-in-law; Kristina B. and her husband Daniel K. Innes of Norton, seven grandchildren; Gina, Peter, Cara, Maggie, Alison, Peter and Bridget, brother and sister-in-law; Eric and his wife Marianne Brainerd of Andover and many nieces and nephews
