Mrs. Lockett was born February 3, 1926, in Waskom, Texas, to Paul and Mattie Jones Reeves. Her family later moved to Marshall, Texas, where she received her education from Pemberton High School and a bachelor's degree from Bishop College. She earned her master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Mrs. Lockett taught school for 34 years; 18 of those years were in Longview ISD before retiring in 1983. Her parents, siblings and her husband, the Rev. B.W. Lockett preceded her in death.
