Peter William Cooper was the son of Richard L. and the former Louise Brown of Anna. Surviving were his brothers, Richard and Stephen; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hollie R. Brown of Murphysboro; and Mrs. Mayme Cooper of Geneva.

His grandfather was Richard T. Cooper, a Carbondale resident for more than 50 years. Richard Cooper was a conductor on the Illinois Central nearly 40 years. Peter's grandmother was Mrs. Mayme Cooper.

Peter died at the age of 13 after falling from a tree. He died at Community Hospital. A brief service was held at the Unitarian Church in Geneva. Rev. Charles Lyttle with Rev. Robert Harvey assisting. His funeral was held at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Rev. Lloyd Bollinger of the 1st Methodist Church officiated. Van Natta Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
