Elton Barron died died suddenly at his home Friday, Dec. 2. He was 91 years old.
Mr. Barron was born in Baker City, Ore. in 1903. His family moved to La Grande, Ore. in the 1920's where he lived and worked for many years. He married Alma Mason. The Barrons moved to the Kitsap area in 1943. Mr. Barron worked as a machinist at Keyport and Bangor bases during World War II. Then he opened his own shop, Barron Auto Repair, which he worked in until his retirement. He also drove school bus for many years.
Mr. Barron was a member of the Warren G. Harding Masonic Lodge as well as the Order of the Eastern Star and the Poulsbo Sons of Norway.
He is survived by his sisters Thelma Smutz and Wana Hempe of La Grande, Ore, his sister-in-law and best friend Myrtle Benson of Poulsbo, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Mason Barron in 1968, his mother, father, and step-father.
Services were held Dec. 10 at the Poulsbo Stone Chapel Mortuary.
