Leola Joan Bivens Brouhard, 81, formerly of Ottumwa, passed from this world on June 20, 2012, at Grace Home Hospice in Shreveport, LA., where her son, John Bivens, resides.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1930, in Belmond to Robert Ingersoll Lobdell and Grace Lucille(Probst)Lobdell. She married Robert William Bivens on Sept. 11, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1996. She married Wayne Royal Brouhard on Jan. 16, 1999. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2011. Leola was a 1948 graduate of Ottumwa High School and worked for Ottumwa Homefinding, Riverside Industries and the Ottumwa Water Works.

Leola was a member of the Ottumwa Free Methodist Church for over 50 years while raising her family of four children and worked in many different areas of children's ministry at the church. She was also a vocalist at the churcha dn a member of Sweet Adelines ensemble. She was a proud member of the Silver Sneakers and the local YMCA.

Leola leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Julie Williams of Dallas, Texas, and Susan Franklin of Lake St. Louis, MO.; her sons, John Bivens of Shreveport, LA., and Tom Bivens, of Cary, N.C.; her eight grandchildren, Vanessa Parreti of Plano, Texas, Lindsey Granados, Allison Bivens and Jenna Bivens, all of Cary, N.C., Grant Bivens of Moore, Okla., Kristine Franklin and Spencer Franklin, both of Lake St. Louis, MO., Shannon Bivens Kinlaw of Greenville, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Ava Paretti of Plano, Texas; her sisters, Suzanne Peterson of Cedar Rapids, Janet Tremmel of Ottumwa, Cathy Musulli of Pasadena, Calif., Pam Brown of Alliance, Neb., and Pat Johnson of Kokomo, Ind.; her brothers, Gary Lobdell of Fruitland, MD., Robert Lobdell of Salisbury, MD., and David Lobdell of Enosburg Falls, VT.

Leola was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Lobdell.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Monday at the Ottumwa Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Tim Ward officiating. Visitation will be held at the Johnson Funeral Chapel from 2-4 pm Sunday.

Leola will be greatly missed because she was a wonderful family member, wife, mother and friend.
