He was the proud and happy father of Tony Pendola and grandfather of Beth and Tony's four children: Jonah, Emma, Lily and Sam. He is also survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Pendola, and his sister Tina Pendola of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mike and Karen's two infant children, Mikey and Suzy, his parents, Joe and Lorene, his sister Marilyn, brother Tony and half-brother, Bud Richart, preceded Mike in death.
After exploring many avenues of employment, Mike became a fire suppression engineer starting in Peoria, Illinois and later moving to North Carolina and California. He designed many state-of-the-art fire suppression systems for major corporations both overseas and on the west coast. His travels carried him to Alaska, Hawaii, Belgium, Venezuela, and Saudi Arabia. Mike loved adventure and could find it in any state or country!
After early disability retirement, Mike refused to slow down. He vastly enjoyed volunteer positions with the Cary Police Department and Durham Wildlife. Always in the company of good friends and family, he created countless memories hunting, fishing, cooking and laughing.
A private reading of the Rosary will be held at the Pendola home, and a Celebration of Life will be held at Sovereign Grace Church (401 Upchurch Road, Apex, NC 27502) on July 6th, 2012. Visitation will begin at 6:30 pm followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Sovereign Grace Church or Durham County Wildlife Club in his memory.
The family would love to hear your memories of Mike. Please share stories and upload photos at http://tribute.perfectmemorials.com/mikependola/
