Robert Tannahill was the son Of John Tannahill and Janet Sharp. He was born in Scotland and came to Huntingdon, Canada with his parents. He is the brother of William Tannahill who has a memorial here in this cemetery. He married Margaret Nelson on June 27 1844 in Ormstown,Huntongdon, Quebec, To this union were born nine children, John Nelson, Margaret, Robert Mack, Jeanette, Mary, Elizabeth Nelson, David Wilson, Peter Nelson and Lucy Stewart. Both William and Robert's names are on the bronze plaque as Charter members of the Little Brown Church in the Vale.
