Mr. Hatch earned a degree from Brigham Young University and was past president of the Portland chapter of the BYU Management Society. He received the Silver Beaver award from Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed scouting, camping, singing and photography.

Survivors included his wife of 23 years, Beth, at home; his parents, Rose Marie and Duane Hatch of Eugene, Ore.; one daughter, Amber Hatch of Vancouver; one son, Nick Hatch of Vancouver; one brother, Joel of Clinton, Wash.; two sisters, Terese Robertson of Olympia and Deanna Johnson of Farmington, Utah; and his grandmother, Irene Hatch of Murray, Utah.
