Ernest Laverne Dewees II, 54, Creston was born to George R. and Doris M. (Marvin) Dewees on Dec. 20, 1943. He died May 13, 1998, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He was raised In Corning and attended Corning schools until he enlisted In the US Navy. His hobbies were hunt ing and fishing and collecting music from the 50s and 60s. also talking on his CB--hls handle was Dead Mule.
He was married to Nioma Sage in August 1964 and after their divorce he was married to Karen Fry on Dec. 29, 1987. Mr. Dewees was preceded in death by his father and brother Charles Dewees.

He is survived by his wife: children Bobby (wife Karen), Altoona and Brenda (husband Dennis), Des Moines; Private Joshua Dewees. US Marines, Shane and Chris, Creston, Tonya (husband
Scott) Lamb, Wichita, Kan.; his mother Doris Long; sisters Mary (husband David) Miller and Bonny Campbell all of Creston; and eight grandchildren.

Services were held May 16 at the Assembly of God Church in Creston with the Rev. James McCutchan officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery In Corning with military rites by the VFW Post of Corning. Pallbearers were Private Joshua Dewees, Bobby Dewees. Chris Dewees, Shane Dewees. Lance Corporal Theo Barren and Dennis Clement. Honorary bearers were Doug Pierce. Jason Miller, William Davis, Kenny Guhse. Scott Miller and Tracy Miller. Caldwell Raddatz

My uncle, Ernest Laverne Dewees II, was the second son of George Raymond (Allison) Dewees and Doris May Marvin. He was married to Nioma Kay Sage and together they had two children, Bobby and Brenda. They were later divorced. He then married Karen Sue Fry and became the step-father of Joshua, Tonya, Chris, and Shane. All four of his step-children took Ernie's last name as thier own.
