Mrs. Brede Svendsen of Newfolden, Marshall county, Minnesota, passed away at her home, Thursday, Nov. 18th, at 8:15 a.m. When the message of sorrow came, it filled out hearts with sympathy for her husband and children and near relatives.

Nathalie Hanstad was born in Vestre Toten, Norway, May 1st, 1862. She emigrated to America in 1886 and settled near Newfolden, Minn., where she has lived ever since.
In 1889, on Nov. 3rd, she was married to Brede Svendsen, also of Newfolden. Their union was blessed with eleven children of which ten are living, namely: Sigvart, Helga now Mrs. Hans Hanson, Hans, Thea, Emma, Bernhard, Agnes now Mrs. Lewis Satterholm, Marie, Norris, and Oscar. The surviving husband and children mourn the loss of a faithful and loving wife and mother and all were present at the funeral.

Her two brothers and a sister live in Climax, Minn., Martin and Halfdan Hanstad and Mrs. Hans Berg.

Funeral services were held in Folden church on Monday, Nov. 22nd, when the whole congregation and many from neighboring congregations were present. Rev. John Hjelmeland officiated. He spoke from the text, "We must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day; the night cometh, when no man can work. When I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

Rev. Thv. Myhrer of the Evangelical Free church spoke from the text, "Behold I lay in Zion a Chief Corner Stone, elect, precious; and he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame."

Her work in church and Ladies' Aid Society has not been in vain. There is a great reward for the faithful. May her memory ever be blessed and may God comfort those who sorrow over her departure.

The out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were as follows: Mrs. H. Berg, Climax, Minn., a sister of deceased; Halfdan Hanstad and Martin Hanstad; Climax, Minn., brothers; Hannah Berg, Climax, Minn., a niece; Mr.and Mrs. H. Bangen, Climax, Minn.; Mrs. Ole Hanstad, Climax, Minn.; A Bergstrom and family, of Warren, Minn.; O Skonovd and family, Viking, Minn.; Peter Anderson and family, Argyle, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carlson, Argyle, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hiaason, Argyle, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Setterholm, Argyle, Minn.
